'Mirabella' trailer traces origin of curse
MANILA - The full trailer for "Mirabella," ABS-CBN's upcoming fantaserye starring Julia Barretto, shows the origin of the curse that has left the lead character with a wood-like complexion.
The 4-minute preview, which debuted on primetime Thursday, shows a love triangle among the characters of Dimples Romana, James Blanco, and Mylene Dizon.
In a fit of rage, Dizon is seen wishing a curse upon Romana in front of a magical tree. This leads to Romana's skin transforming into wood -- a curse she passes on to her daughter.
Mira grows up under the care of the characters of John Lapus and Pokwang, who witness the girl's mother dying shortly after giving birth.
With her peculiar complexion, Mira becomes the subject of disgust among her peers in childhood as well as in her teens. But a young man whose sight is impaired (Enrique Gil) gives Mira hope, as he treats her well despite her appearance.
Mira, however, fears that her new-found friend, upon regaining his sight, will distance himself from her. But her apprehensions appear unfounded, as he assures her of his affection even after his vision becomes clear.
Directed by Jerome Pobocan, Erick Salud, and Jojo Saguin, "Mirabella," is billed as the launching series of Barretto, who is the latest of her celebrity clan to pursue acting after aunts Claudine and Gretchen, and mother Marjorie.
The series, which also marks the first team-up of Barretto and gil, will premiere as part of ABS-CBN's Primetime Bida line-up on March 24.
