Thieves dig way inside PSBank-Batangas

MANILA, Philippines (2nd UPDATE) – Thieves raided a PSBank branch in Lipa City, Batangas, the police discovered on Monday morning.

Chief Inspector Ferdinand Ancheta, Deputy Chief of Lipa Police, said the bank’s security alerted them at around 8 a.m. that the bank, located along Ayala Avenue in Lipa, had been raided.

“May nakita na nakaharang na baton ng gwardya sa 2 pinto ng banko. Nilapitan ng security guard, tumawag agad ng police, para marespondehan,” Ancheta told dzMM.

Ancheta said the police discovered a hole in the ground, which the thieves supposedly used to enter the bank over the weekend.

The police later discovered that the thieves started digging from a drainage near the bank. The police suspect the thieves started digging as early as December.

The suspects were already gone when the police arrived at the scene. The bank, meanwhile, was in disarray.

Officials confirmed that the suspects took off with cash from the bank’s vault. The amount of the stolen money was not yet disclosed as an inventory has yet to be finished.
